Savannah's AmbianceSavannah's Forsyth Park

Savannah's expansive Forsyth Park with vast lawns, tree-shaded walks and the beautiful fountain is a focal point of the Historic District. In addition to Forsyth Park are Savannah's twenty-one squares scattered throughout the Historic District. Once used as a place to assemble military units, they are now used as parks. Each one is unique unto itself but they all come together to give Savannah its ultimate charm.

A Walk Into History

Some of Savannah's most interesting sights include the Mercer House, originally built for singer/songwriter Johnny Mercer and now famous as the scene of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", the Armstrong House, home of attorney Sonny Seyler and University of Georgia mascot, Uga, along with other private homes and gardens. These are only a small sampling of the beauty of Savannah easily accessible in a short stroll from our Inns.

Savannah Trade and Convention Center Savannah's rich history is accessible through a variety of museums and tours. Among the many museums are the Savannah History Museum, the Ships of the Sea Museum, and just a short drive away the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum. While Savannah is definately in touch with its history, it also is working toward the future. Opening its new Trade and Convention Center, on nearby Hutchinson Island (left), and the soon to be opened new wing of the Telfair Arts Museum, Savannah is expanding its horizons.

Savannah State House Savannah boasts many beautiful public buildings such as the gold-domed City Hall (right). Other notable public structures include the old Post Office, the Customs House, the County Court House, and The Armory now used by Savannah College of Art and Design. Savannah, Ga Historic Squares

Monuments and historical markers throughtout the Historic District also highlight Savannah's extensive history. Organizations founded in Savannah include the Girl Scouts and the U.S. Eighth Air Force.
